He had a large majority in both the House and the Senate and a mandate from the public. If the corporate Democrats weren't beholden to the health insurance and drug corporations they would have pushed for a single-payer Medicare-for-all system that would cover all Americans cradle to grave. That would have created an estimated 2.6 million jobs, reduced the deficit, reduced bankruptcies, been good for all American businesses (except the blood sucking insurance companies) and saved many lives.
Instead they took Medicare-for-all off of the table from the start, did a deal to protect the drug industries profits by preventing government from negotiating better prices, they got rid of the public option even as Obama publicly gave lip service to it and they gave us a Republican health care bill that was written by the industries that are the problem.
They could have expanded Medicare. They didn't need or get Republican votes so why did they give us a Republican health care plan?
Well what do you expect given our system of government? He is lucky to get passed what was passed. Maybe this is the first step.
